Wow, I'm finally making my first blog post. I have a few topics in mind, (LGBT news, Tech news) but I'm going to start out with something a bit more personal. I've never written a blog before, so constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!
So this Saturday my friends and I went out to my brother's girlfriends birthday party at Cans Bar. You should Google/Yahoo/Bing/AskJeeves (is that even still around?) it because it was really fun.
I went there not really intending to get drunk. This is pretty normal for me, I'm the lightest drinker in my group. After discovering that they serve gigantic cans of Bug Light, I was pretty happy. They were cheap too, only $7! So we all ordered one and I was well into my first one (I had decided that I perhaps should get a little tipsy) a nice lady came over to us and offered us free shots!
Free shots you say? YES! How could we refuse? I normally don't even like shots, but I figured what the hell. I filled out the Cans bar email list card, and took a shot. It was some kind of raspberry lemonade vodka which tasted like friggin CANDY!
We all wondered whether it was in fact alcoholic, but whatever. I finish my first gicantic BL and start another when another nice lady came over and offered more free shots with swag thrown in on the side. Free shots and SWAG!? Hells yeah. We took the shots (this time it was some kind of SoCo. Lime I think? My memory begins to fail me at this point) and picked our swag. We all got a set of SoCo beads and I chose a nice SoCo T-Shirt as well.
I go and get another enormous BL (how many have I had at this point?) when my brother and his girlfriend walk over. They see the empty shot glasses, and the swag we have and instantly become jealous. All is right in my world. My brother complains about having 10 rum and Cokes and not being drunk. I call him a bitch and finish his rum and Coke to prove my point. Girlfriend high fives me and he runs off to get another (he had a wristband, so I didn't feel guilty).
Obviously we weren't the only people at the bar by now and we met some really awesome people who sat next to us! Having been blitzed by then, I really can't remember their names. My brain suggests something starting with a "J" and possibly someone else named Kristen. We definitely had a lot of fun, and there was much dancing. The guys they were with were awesome too, one of our introductory conversations was as follows:
"Hey, *something to do with chicks here, I can't remember completely*" - him
"Ha, dude, I'm gay" - me
"Oh. Are you angry at me?" - him
"No, I'm just lettin ya know" - me
"Oh good, cuz I'm completely okay with it" - him
"Awesome, we're friends now" - me
*shake hands* - both, duh
So that entire group was definitely awesome. The girls could tell right away that I'm gay, and one of them showed me pics of her friend at ISU. Dear J's friend at ISU, you are hot. Hit me up.
I THINK at this point I went to get another BL or two, but it was getting late. I definitely didn't finish my last one, shame on me. At this point, I am easily the drunkest of my friends. They have to support me on the way out of the bar and into the restaurant. Yep, after a night of copious drinking we decide that we simply MUST eat. If you've heard of White Palace Grill, we ate at the new place owned by the same people. I think it was called Hollywood something, although I remind you that my memory was gone at this point.
So all in all, it was a wonderful night. Hope you all had a great weekend (and keep reading please, my self-image depends on it)!
